Intel announces a sandy bridge version of its highest performing Xeons, named Xeon E7.
This is the first time Intel has broken the 8 core mark with the new E7 family Xeon with 10 physical cores. This new E7 family Xeon’s can handle as many as 20 simultaneous threads at once through hyperthreading.
These new Xeons will range from 2.13 GHz drawing 105W to 2.4GHz drawing 130W – Pricing for these chips should be between 189 – $612 depending on the speed. The entire E7 Family based – platforms will support a full 2TB of memory.
