Here is where we’re able to compare the Network and NAS lines from LaCie. The NAS version has a 2.0GHz ARM Processor where the Network version had a 1.5GHz Kirkwood chip. This increase in power should result in faster read/write times as well as faster overall response times. Also, the NAS version supports the latest in HDD file systems, Ext4, meaning better compatibility with newer HDDs. Other than that things seem to be exactly the same as the Network version: RAID 1 and RAID 0 support, Countless ways to access the storage including FTP and HTTP, USB and eSATA expandability, and NAS OS 2.0 Support.

We see striking similarities with the 2Big NAS and the 2Big Network 2: the exact same exterior heat sink design to keep things cool with a single button/activity light on the front. The back shows our LAN, eSATA, and USB ports with an on/off switch and power port. Removing our drive trays shows LaCie has included Seagate Barracudas’ with the NAS (7200RPM). Our included accessories show a power adapter with both domestic and foreign plug adapters, an Ethernet cable, drive key, allen wrench (for disassembling the product) and documentation. Outside of the 2x 3TB drives instead of 2x 2TB drives, not alot different from the 2Big Network 2.
