Final Thoughts
Pros:
- Fully adjustable overclocking settings
- Well layed out UEFI
- Looks great
- Room for expansion
Cons:
- Price
Overall I was very pleased with this MSI board. Once the BIOS was updated to the latest version (a must for Richland chips) I ran in to no issues at all. I was able to easily ramp the chip up to a respectable 4.5 GHz with very little extra voltage and increase the GPU clock to over 1 GHz with no extra voltage. The board recognized the XMP profiles of my RAM right away and gave me no issues when adjusting all of my voltages. The UEFI layout was logical if you decide to add in another GPU down the road you can do so without issue. The only issue I have with the G65 is the price. It is not the most expensive A85 motherboard, but there are cheaper boards with just as many (or more) features that perform just as well. The price difference we are talking about here is only $10-20 though.
The FM2-A85XA-G65 does its job well, I found no real faults with it. The problem is that there are lots of other A85 motherboards on the market now that can do the same things as the G65 in the same price range. So really it boils down personal preference and color scheme. If you are looking for a excellent high-performance FM2 motherboard, the MSI G65 will do the job nicely.
