Thoughts and Conclusion
From the moment I opened the box, my impression of this board was one of polish. The layout is pretty much ideal, the color scheme tasteful, and the list of features is as long as my arm. While I was unable to use my preferred aftermarket cooler with this board, I attribute that entirely to the changes in socket clearance between Intel’s LGA 1156 and LGA 1155 specs. Almost every motherboard I’ve used has had some kind of quirk that caused me to stop and rethink my installation plan once it was encountered. With the P67A-GD80, everything behaved exactly as expected. My one gripe is that with the third PCIe x16 slot filled, even with a single-slot card, the USB 3.0 and 1394 front panel headers are blocked. That said, the board is otherwise literally perfect. MSI has really hit it out of the park with this one, and I couldn’t be happier.
