OCZ 750W Fatal1ty Series Power Supply

Thoughts and Conclusion

Esthetically, I have a few quibbles with this power supply. The red glow of the cooling fan may appeal to some, but I would have welcomed the ability to dim or turn off the lights. Also regarding the fan, OCZ’s promise of near-silence isn’t quite met; it makes a faint chugging noise at idle that grows louder under load. It’s nothing terribly obtrusive, but it grated on my nerves a bit at first. Really, my biggest issue was with the modular cabling: cables that short simply aren’t terribly practical in larger cases, and the rubber sheath stops almost a full inch short of the plug on both ends, leaving unsightly bits of red and yellow wire insulation sticking out. Given that this power supply is designed for people who like to show their hardware off, these shortcomings are disappointing.

OCZ’s power supplies have been reliable performers from the beginning, and the OCZ 750W Fatal1ty Series is no exception. The length of the cabling may be a concern for those with larger cases, but the performance is undisputed.

Pros:

  • Solid power
  • Good use of modular plugs on PSU

Cons:

  • Short, stiff modular cables
  • Bright red fan may not appeal to all

  1. OCZ is a great company with high quality products. I’ve been using my DDR ram from OCZ and after two years it’s still running strong. It’s safe to assume thesepower distribution blocks would have efficient power distribution!
