Software:
The setup comes with some really nice software. The main piece of software is Audacity. It’s been out for a while now and does a great job at capturing single signal audio. It also has some nice effects to help clean and dress up your recordings. To my surprise, they include a special copy of EnergyXT 2.5 multi-track recording software. I’ve used EnergyXT for quick recording before and it’s a great piece of software. The only issue I has was it would not find the USB soundcard. It would fall back to my SoundBlaster ASIO card everytime. They also include a few other free software packages that help you upload your Podcasts. These are pretty standard and easy to use. In all, they definitely prepared you for Podcasting. Both Audacity and EnergyXT use very little resource when in use so you don’t need a powerhouse computer to create your podcasts.
Conclusion:
All around, I’d give the Podcastudio from BEHRINGER a pretty high mark for an all in one solution to get started with Podcasting. It will get you moving in the right direction with little effort. The real magic is learning how to use the software to its fullest potential. Once you master the recording and editing of the Podcasts, all you have left is to think up content.
They also advertise this package as a recording suite on the box. I would rank this as an amateur or beginner setup for recording music. Stick with the standards like Mbox and Line6.
