Setup
As most things are these days, the Imperator is plug’n’play, and can be used right out of the box, but none of the advanced features will work unless you install the software. Razer doesn’t include a CD; instead they instruct you to download the software from their website. Installation is simple, and so is the software.

Something I’m not too keen on though, is that any change that is made in the software takes about 10-15 seconds to apply, making subtle mouse changes difficult to notice.
Customization
The software has many great things going for it. You can set the DPI to any number between 100 and 5600 DPI in increments of 100, and you can even adjust for each axis. There are five settings for each stage of on-the-fly DPI changes that you can make with the two top buttons. You can also customize any of the 9 buttons to do whatever you want.
Grip
The grip for this mouse is definitely a palm grip for me. It’s very comfortable, though I found my ring finger sometimes had no place to go, and ended up resting on mouse 2. This wasn’t terribly noticeable, but might bother those with larger hands.
