Sapphire Edge HD2 Mini PC
Benchmarks
First we’ll test each internal part separately then we’ll look at comprehensive benchmarks.
Hard Drive Speed (Aida 64)
With an average of 74 MBps random read this drive is plenty fast for media and office needs.
RAM (Aida 64)
CPU (Aida 64)
Lan Speed (wired)
Lan Speed (wireless)
Windows Experience Rating
Passmark
PCMark
During the PCMark test I ran AIDA64s monitoring software in the background. We see that the CPU temperature maxed out at ~68C. This is well withen thermal limits of the Pineview chip. However the Network chip leaves some to be desired. ~8 MB Transfer speed on wireless is about half of what we would expect out of a 150 Mbps chip.
Basic Usage
To compliment these benchmarks, I used the Edge HD2 for everyday use and got comparable results to a netbook (No big surprise since it is the exact same chipset). Using Microsoft Office presented little challenge to the Edge HD2 including large Excel Spreadsheets and large Word Docs. I tested Flash with this Flash Benchmark: Our results show that the HD2 isn’t meant for gaming but can do basic to moderate Flash applications without too much strain (CPU never rose above 50% during test).
