The SATECHI 12 port USB hub does come with a power adapter to provide power to all the ports as needed. Though out of the box and plugged into our laptop, we were able to power 12 USB thumb drives without the addition of the AC power adapter. There is also two power switches on the USB hub to power on/off half the ports to provide additional power as needed to maintain 2.0 power levels.

Here is a closer look at what comes with the USB hub and what it comes with out of the box. The additional power to add more power to the USB hub to get up to USB 2.0 power level is a nice touch, but in the end I’d say remove the switches and go with the notion that if the AC power adapter is connected, then all ports are getting the extra power. This idea would take the twelfth USB port and move it to the top of the hub, rather than the end of the hub.
