Lets Compare...

There’s no doubt. A ten year old could tell you that the class 10 should outperform the Class 6 in just about every test environment. When benchmarking the Silicon Power 32GB Class 10 SDHC card, we were not able to see much of a difference between the class 6 and the class 10. The class 6 got 17.09Mb/s, while the Class 10 got 19.13Mb/s. This is because as previously mentioned, the Class refers to the “minimum sustained write speeds…” and not the maximum. The best way to actually test this was to put it in the camera and put it to use. For testing we used the Canon PowerShot G10, as well as a Sony HD Camcorder that recorded 1080p HD directly to the SDHC card.

The results of these two tests were almost unbelievable. Both cameras had a noticeable difference in usage between picture to picture, and were able to take the media, store it and move on much quicker with the class 10 card as opposed to the class 6. This made taking pictures a little more enjoyable, as you were able to catch more photos or videos from second to second. The amount of storage here was surreal. for the first time, I was able to go on vacation and use only one memory card, and had room to spare when I returned. This is truly a card that is a must have among people that like to take pictures.

Conclusion

The Silicon Power 32GB Class 10 SDHC is a great card for anyone looking to add a little more storage to their device. With 32GB, you will have plenty of room for pictures, videos, or anything else you decide to store on this card. Some of the entry level SSD’s are only 40GB, just a few GB more than this card. Our camera was able to store 4883 pictures on our 32GB card. These pictures were a bit on the large side, our camera was set to 14.7 Mega Pixels, and our pictures had a resolution of 4416 x 3312, with 180dpi. Still, this means that you should get over 5000 pictures on this card with a 12MP camera. For the price of $99 (at time of publication), this card is not cheap, however it is cheap for what it is. The SanDisk equivalent sells for around $170; that’s $40 more you could be spending on the vacation itself. When it comes to powerful performance for a good price, you should feel okay trusting Silicon Power.
