Synology DS209+ NAS

Performance:

The DS209+ like its predecessor DS207+ is not short on capablities for one’s family or business. The DS 209+ as explained in the introduction has improved disk I/O than the DS207+ which a welcomed for those companies with a larger employee base who are reading the writing large files on the NAS all day long. We did benchmark the DS209+ with two Western Digital Cavier WD10EACS 1.0 Terabyte hard drives in a mirror. The DS209+ was connected to a 1GB ethernet switch and set to 1GB rather than Auto detect. The benchmarking PC was also connected to the same 1GB switch and also set to 1GB. With several tests with SiSoft Sandra, we confirmed the claims Synology posted about the DS209+ in comparison to our DS 207+ with the same hard drives was improved. It doesn’t appear that Synology is posting false claims when it comes to the improvement in disk I/O of large files.

After several benchmark tests, TechwareLabs has also seen an improvement in the DS209+ over the DS207+ with the same hard drives.
