Testing and Analysis:
The main focus of these network cameras was installation ease, so I decided to simply plug in the provided power and network cables to my router. Both cameras LED lights blinked to life and the PTZ camera (AV3200) sprang to life moving back and forth performing some start-up self checks of the movement hardware. I waited for the lights to shine constant and the PTZ unit to stop moving, then proceed to visit the LiveLine.net website in my web browser. The website is very simple and only requirement is that you have the Adobe flash player plugin installed (very common plugin that most people will have installed already). I logged in with username/password and sure enough both cameras were online and ready to view.
LiveLine.net Website showing both camera feeds
To view the live image of a camera you simply click on the preview thumbnail and you are instantly viewing the live video stream. The quality at time of testing was good enough for seeing if your dog is ok, or if the kids made it home from school but it would be of no use for identifying a thief. In a brief discussion with LiveLine representatives, I was told plans to upgrade several aspects of the service were in progress and would be included at no extra cost to users. One such upgrade mentioned was better video quality (resolution). Once this upgrade occurs I believe the image would be usable for most any application such as identification purposes. Setting up motion detection, email alerts, and viewing past static pictures stored from the video stream are all accessed from that cameras web page. Each setting is clearly labeled making all setting changes super simple.
Tech Support also mentions that none of the representatives at AVC can view your camera feeds, this means your privacy is upheld even if troubleshooting is necessary.
The $9.99/month LiveLine service plan currently includes:
- Up to 3 camera connections to the system per account. (Camera purchase not included.)
- Motion detection recording & alerts via email or mobile phone (1 GB storage space per camera)
- 24/7 live monitoring
- Mobile phone access (http://mobile.livelive.net)
