Benchmarks
Specifications
The benchmarks were done on a clean Windows 10 64bit Professional installation with the following specifications:
- CPU – AMD FX-8370
- Motherboard – MSI 970 Gaming AM3+ socket
- RAM – Mushkin Enhanced 16GB
- GPU – MSI 670GTX
- PSU – Thermaltake 1000Watt
- Case – NZXT Phantom 410 RED
- OS – Windows 10 64bit Professional
We chose the MSI 970 motherboard for its overclockability, and ease of setup. It was one of the best choices for this AMD processor at the time of the review.
The cooler is a Cooler Master Hyper 212 Evo which like we stated before, a fantastic choice for cheap and sufficient air-based CPU cooling solution. If you were to consider cooling solutions based on water theres a few options to consider. Corsair makes decent closed-loop cooler, and Thermaltake has an interesting option as well.
For the PSU we chose the Thermaltake’s Toughpower 1000Watt 80 Plus Bronze component, for its price, performance, durability and reliability as a power supply unit. Let’s take a look at the scores the Vishera received in the multiple applications we used.
Cinebench R15 benchmark renders a matrix-like 3D image using only the CPU for the process. The benchmark placed the FX-8370 between the 3840MQ (Laptop CPU) and the Intel Xeon X5650 in multi-core test. In single-core test the FX-8370 scored between the i7-3770, and the i7-3720QM (Laptop CPU).
CPUMark from PassMark shows the scores as a composite of all scores, Integer Math, Floating Point Math, Prime Numbers, and Extended instructions. All of these tests have scored the FX-8370 right below the i7-5820K which means its still fairly well comparable to the 5th gen Intel Hasswell-DT processors.
PCMark8 benchmark uses multiple tests (Creative, Home, Work, Office, Photoshop) to place the CPU in different categories differently. From rendering to web-surfing, you can clearly see how this CPU perfrormed.
Using the Creative Test the PCMark software uses web-browsing, video-to-go test, Music, Video-Editing and multiple other tests to check the CPU-Clock speed on average and how the CPU heats up during the process. FX-8370 does jump anywhere from 35-40C to 77-88C which isn’t to say abnormal, but definitely not the best temperatures we could be seeing. PCMark8 is one of the best complete suite benchmarks that we have in our arsenal!

Performance Analysis and discussion
Using the above benchmark utilities we were able to determine that the FX-8370 is a mid-level gaming/enthusiast CPU. Vishera 8370 should be your choice only if you don’t want to go with Intel and want to save some money, seeing as how it was outperformed with most of the new gen Intel processors, and even 4th gen Intel processors. Although this CPU might not be the fastest competitor out in the technical world, it still a considerably better CPU for the value that it costs (200$).
