AMD Phenom II 955

Overclocking:

Knowing that the new AMD Phenom II is an Overclocking beast, we decided to test out a few configurations on our own.  The Phenom II 955 runs at 3.2Ghz at stock speeds.  Tweaking the front side bus frequency, the multiplier, and the processor voltages I was able to achieve a stable OC at 3.75GHz.  This was also achieved using the stock heat sink, although temperatures did get pretty hot during stress tests.

Using a better heat sink and more tweaking, I’m sure you could get the AMD Phenom II 955 to reach whichever speed you would like.  You can view the following video (also embed below) to see some of the amazing speeds reached using this AMD Phenom II 955 processor.

  1. The Q9550 can be purchased at Microcenter for $169.99, all day, every day. It’s not a sale price. This makes the Phenom II 955 not so remarkable, especially given the power envelopes of both processors.
