AMD Phenom II 955

Conclusion:

Performance: I remember when Crysis was just released and no system could play the game on max settings.  Well using AMD Phenom 955 paired up with an ATI 4xxx or nVidia 2xx card, this can be achieved.  On the Sisoft Sandra benchmark,  you can see how well the processor performs compared to Intels Q9500 and QX9650.

Cost: We all want the best of the best, but if it breaks our pockets is it really worth it?  Well AMD has matched up a great processor at an amazing cost.  While the Intel Q9550 is still priced around $275, the AMD Phenom II 955 is priced remarkable lower at only $175.

Overall: Great product.  It’s one of AMDs top of the line and it definitely shows.

  1. The Q9550 can be purchased at Microcenter for $169.99, all day, every day. It’s not a sale price. This makes the Phenom II 955 not so remarkable, especially given the power envelopes of both processors.
