CPU-Z
CPU-Z is a freeware that gathers information on some of the main devices of your system. For processors it informs you of the Name and number, Core stepping and process, Package, Core voltage, Internal and external clocks, clock multiplier, Supported instructions sets, and Cache information.
Shown below is a set of screenshots displaying the general information of the three processors we are including in this review, these are the Athlon II x4 620, Athlon II x4 630, and the Intel Q8200.

Test System:
We are going to be simulating our test computer as an example of “AMD’s new mainstream desktop platform for Windows 7”. Thus, we are using the recommended 785G Chipset motherboard along with other mainstream desktop products. Below you can see the rig used to model AMD’s new mainstream desktop platform.
Motherboard: | Asus M4A785TD-M EVO |
Processor(s): | AMD Athlon II X4 620 and 630 |
Graphics: | Integrated ATI 4200 |
Memory: | 4GB Crucial Ballistix DDR3-1333 |
Hard Drive: | Seagate 320GB 7200rpm |
Power Supply: | Cooler Master 650w |
Operating System: | Windows 7 Professional 64bit (final release) |
Also, to give an idea of the price / performance of AMD’s “mainstream desktop platform” we are going to be comparing it against Intel’s Q8200 using their __________ chipset. Below you can find the test rig that was made to simulate Intel’s equivalent.
Motherboard: | Intel DG41TY |
Processor(s): | Intel Q8200 |
Graphics: | – |
Memory: | 4GB Corsair Dominator DDR2-1066 @800MHz |
Hard Drive: | Seagate 320GB 7200rpm |
Power Supply: | Cooler Master 650w |
Operating System: | Windows 7 Professional 64bit (final release) |
wow. is this review completely insisting in using the only benchmarks where the AMD processors could win…..allied to the platform? use CPU tests more than overall platform tests, because if you dont you are effectively saying that everyone who buy these will use onboards graphics of a cheap platform, when in truth most will probably use the Q8200 on a different board and add discrete graphics i would say….
