ATI HD 5550 Video Card

Furmark 1.8

FurMark is a very intensive OpenGL benchmark that uses fur rendering algorithms to measure the performance of the graphics card.

furmark

It was tested using the default settings and it scored 1424 which is a score based how well it performed the render at 1280X1024 this score is about average for this price range with nothing overly notable.

Unigine Heaven Benchmark:

The Heaven benchmark is a direct X 11 benchmarking tool featuring a considerable amount of tessellation which is one of the main goals for Direct X 11. Tessellation will enable far more robust character authoring while still reducing the amount of time needed to create complex and realistic characters. Hardware tessellation will allow fewer pointy shapes on characters and vehicles by allowing artists to create far more realistic characters.

havenbm

Ran the Unigine Heaven benchmark on both 3360X1050 resolution that we used for our game testing as well as 1440X900

3360x10501440x900

For the benchmark under 3360X1050 the results were to be expected given the amount of work it gives the graphics card. The average frame rate was 5 frames per second. When I ran the benchmark under 1440X900 the average doubled coming in at 10.8 frames per second. This test is very demanding of the card and really shows what Direct X 11 can do give some beefy hardware. For a lower end card these scores are actually pretty good so while the scores are low you have to figure in that this card is still in the sub $100 range which makes these scores actually pretty fantastic.

3Dmark Vantage:

3Dmark vantage is a benchmarking tool developed by Futuremark Corporation it is intended to give a normalized mean for comparing different PC hardware configurations, primarily focusing on CPU and GPU these tests are run using Direct X 10

3dmark

As withFurmark benchmark this score is actually pretty good for this level card, while it would not likely hold its own against some of beefier products in ATI’s line up it will easily hold its own in its price range.

  1. You’re so amazing! I don’t believe Ive learn anything such as this previously. So awesome to search out someone with a few initial ideas on it subject. realy thanks just for starting it up. this page is something that is helpful on the internet, somebody with a little inspiration. helpful job for providing something new to the net!

  2. Too bad that you didn’t included a similar graphics card from NVIDIA (GT220 or so) or an old ATI (HD4650/ HD4550?).

    • I intend to add to this post… unfortunately at the time of this review I did not have one that I could test with on the same rig.

      • Hmm, maybe you can arrange something for the next time/review.

btw, maybe it’s nice to note that the cooler is a modified L2 Pro from Arctic Cooling.

I have the same one om my HD4670 and it indeed does a decent job. 🙂
