The blue switch is Cherry’s marked technology that connects each key to the key response node. The trick with the Blue Switch, in particular, is open contact space to increase contact accuracy. Each key is also souped up with gold contacts for instant spark-like reaction to each key press. A pressure of about 60 cN (centiNewtons) is required to activate the keys and can hold on load at 50 cN. A real life instance is to imagine laying your hand restfully on any surface and simply twitch your finger down lightly without follow-up pressure. That twitch can activate the key instantaneously with a responsive force springing your finger to the next key for agility.
My resting typing speed is about 90 WPM and can accelerate up to 110 depending on the keyboard layout and response time. The Cherry gives me up to 115 WPM full throttle with 100% accuracy (WOW highest I’ve done with accuracy). Remember accuracy is dependent on the individual, but a keyboard able to quickly keep a momentum with a springy key prevents misclicks and other random incidents that decrease typing sessions.
The way the keys are built they fit well for being able to rest fingers on the keys without accidental presses. Here’s a comparison with the Red, Brown, Black and Silver switches also available with the Cherry Keyboard.
