Crucial DDR3-1333

MemTach

One of the more rigorous tests for RAM. As you may have noticed the percentage increase in performance from stock to overclocked is much bigger in this test. The test names that are more interesting and applicable  to average user is the memory set and memory copy. “Memory set” increased from 7542 MB/sec to  9069MB/sec and “Memory copy” increased from 5300 MB/sec to 7303 MB/sec. The numbers at 1600MHz are very impressive.

Any gaming enthusiast who loves to build best rigs will know this test. Personally it is my favorite because it doesn’t take long and is a very good indication of how well your computer will perform in video games.

Unfortunately this doesn’t really show great deal of improvement since the benchmark doesn’t put RAM through testing. Though this will give gamers a general idea of how well a set up such as ours can work.

As one of the best and more widely used benchmarks it provides quite a lot of great and specific data. I ran three tests in order, Mem and Cache, Latency, and Memory bandwidth both at 1066MHz and 1600MHz.

Mem and Cache Latency Bandwidth

Mem and cache tests directly correlated with how fast your applications work(in terms of memory access) that  are completely stored in RAM. With 6GB of RAM that’s pretty much any possible application for average user. This test also bottle-necked by the processor bandwidth, so if your results come out different it might be the processor. If it’s the same processor it could be your motherboard or even PSU.

The latency tests basically shows how long it takes for the RAM to retrieve data. Crucial at 1066MHz timed at 81ns. The bandwidth test shows 18GB/s.

You can see great improvement from 61GB/s to 81 GB/s increase. The 81GB/s doesn’t show any lag behind any performance 1600MHz RAM out there. You can see the significant increase all across the different tests. Latency decreased down to 61ns and the bandwidth increased up to an impressive 26.5GB/s.
