Conclusion
AMD has really let loose a really great chipset. With good integrated graphics, 7.1 surround, and increased I/O bandwidth, AMD has addressed big concerns for a large audience. They focused on the largest group, while still giving to the enthusiast crowd. The added bandwidth for USB 3.0 and integration of SATA 3 in the SB850 will greatly increase I/O and should make many enthusiasts happy; especially those using RAID. I’m definitely looking forward to AMD’s new Phenom II x6 processors.
The best part about this board is it’s price. We are being told the 890GX platforms such as the Gigabyte 890GPA-UD3H will be available from between $130 and $180, which is a fantastic deal all things considered. This would be a deal for those with new SATA 3 drives looking for every bit of performance. All in all, AMD’s new 890GX is a fantastic chipset, and this is a great board with a lot of support for the upcoming Phenom II X6.
