IDAPT I3

As expected everything is packed in pretty tightly.  I like the power switch on the back, and the power chord is standard, so your not screwed if the dog eats it. (I only mention this because it has happened to me.)

For testing this unit I have three phones and an iPod Nano. Of the six tips included, there was not one matching my Kyocera phone, however it is available online. I was surprised at the amount of tips they have available for purchase, there are 20 listed on their site.

From the website:

  • Mobile phones (Nokia, Samsung, Blackberry, LG, Sony-Ericsson….)
  • Smartphones (Palm, iPhone, HTC, LG, Motorola…)
  • Headphones, Bluetooth (Motorola, Nokia, Jabra, Samsung…)
  • GPS (Tomtom, Garmin, Magellan, Navigon, Mio, Navman…)
  • Games consoles (Nintendo, Sony…)
  • Camaras (Kodak, Casio…)
  • AA/AAAA rechargeable batteries (cualquier marca, Energizer, Panasonic, Duracell…)

The tips are very easy to insert, and they seem secure. As I look at the tip placement and my phones, I am noticing a potential issue.

blackberrysidepower

Both the blackberry and the MotoQ, like many smartphones have side mount power connections.

overlappingissue

The overlap caused by these mount points, will either result in a second device hanging over the side or rendering one of the slots useless.

If you possessed two thin devices this placement would not be an issue.

front-view

The width issue would be of particular concern if you wanted to charge a PSP and a smart phone.

Another cause for concern,  I noticed the tips being raised as they are do not offer much support. given the amount of leeway I am cautious that a heavy enough device might actually deteriorate the charging connection, and possibly even break it.
