Gaming Benchmarks:
Synthetic benchmarks are great tools for comparing and testing your system against the competition and seeing how well it performs. For most of us enthusiasts though, it all comes down to the gaming. When you’re building your rig and picking out the hardware that suits your needs, you want to make sure it can handle any game thrown at it. Picking out the right CPU is just as much of a critical part of seeing better results as your GPU is, so naturally we wanted to run benchmarks on some of the more demanding games.
Tomb Raider

Tomb Raider is an absolutely stunning game created by the folks over at Square Enix. We bumped up all of the settings to ultra and were very surprised to see how well it did, averaging 115 fps. Since Tomb Raider is held back a little by the GPU, our overclocked results were almost identical, showing a bump of only 2 fps for max frame rate, but averaged the same amount.
Grid 2

The guys over at Codemasters released Grid 2 a little over a year ago. This visually stunning game is still a great test to how well your system performs with all of it’s setting max out. When running this game at stock, we averaged around 125 fps and maxed out at almost 160. We saw a dramatic increase of 20% in average fps when we applied our overclock. Now that’s what we like to see!
Valley

The Valley benchmark is known for pushing your systems GPU to the limits, but we figured we would run it anyway to see where we scored. The average frame rate was an impressive 64.7 stock and only increased by 1 frame with the overclock. This wasn’t much of a surprise considering the test results are very GPU dependent.
