Kingston KVR1333D3E9S 4GB ECC Server RAM

PerformanceTest 7:

PerformanceTest is a synthetic benchmark similar to PCMark, in that it runs a gambit of tests against a machine and then compiles an aggregate score that you can brag to your friends about. Below is the Memory Mark portion of the benchmark.

Passmark PerformanceTest 7.0 Memory Test

The results are very impressive. Even though comparing ECC RAM and Non-ECC RAM is like comparing apples and oranges, it’s fun to see this RAM beat out some of the DDR3 1600 gaming ram kits.

Conclusion:

Like I said before, the most important thing about server RAM is that it works, and this does. Even though the ValueRAM line is meant to be a generic line of RAM, it doesn’t mean it needs to have mediocre performance. We can see from the benchmarks that the RAM actually performs quite well. At around $50 per stick it is also very affordable. It shouldn’t be hard to fully populate the RAM slots on most server purchases. While we may not have time to do a true torture test of the the RAM, running over the course of years to find failure rate, I can say that the RAM is more than likely reliable. Kingston has been in the memory business for a while and they have the game down. If you have a board that requires unbuffered ECC RAM, this is the RAM for you. It works and it works well for cheap.
