Sapphire HD 7770 FleX Video Card Product Review

Packaging:

Box

The HD 7770 FleX packaging is pretty standard as far as video card packaging goes. The glossy box is extremely well labeled, with the featured highlights plainly displayed. The internal packaging is merely a cardboard box that does a sufficient job of protecting the anti-static bubble bagged HD 7770 FleX, included cables and CD.

Accessories:

Card4

Included along with the card itself are a DVI-to-VGA adapter, HDMI-to-DVI cable adapter, Molex-to-PCIe cables, and a 6 foot HDMI cable. Also included are a quick installation guide and a driver CD.

Closer Look:
Card1
The HD 7770 FleX features a single cooling fan, unlike its more expensive 78xx and 79xx counterparts. With less memory and less horsepower under the hood, it’s believable that a dual fan cooler isn’t required, but this is likely an area where Sapphire trimmed some of the cost. Sporting less hardware components, the HD 7770 FleX is not a full size card, measuring nearly 55mm shorter than the high end HD 7950 FleX.
Card2

In addition to the single cooling fan, the HD 7770 FleX is equipped with dual heat pipes for heat dissipation. This is another area where we see differentiation from the 78xx and 79xx versions (which have a five heat pipe configuration).

Card3

As stated in the specs, the connector side of the card provides one Dual-Link DVI, one Single-Link DVI (unique to the FleX edition, and the port that makes triple monitor support possible without having to use the DisplayPort) one HDMI, and one DisplayPort. As noted in our other reviews of Sapphire FleX video cards, the added Single-Link DVI connector reduces the heat exhaust by half. Although hard to quantify how this impacts heat dissipation out of the case, it’s important to note.
