Thoughts and Conclusion
Upgrading an older laptop is a tricky business; you can only go so far with it, and the upgrade parts tend to be expensive. Indeed, for many laptops, the only possible hardware upgrades are the hard drive and the ram. You can always opt for a bigger hard drive right out of the box, but laptop manufacturers usually charge a premium for this. Buying an aftermarket drive lets you boost your storage capacity on the cheap, and can avoid the lengthy turn-around times and extra charges of warranty service.
Over the years, Seagate has been a consistent performer. They’ve delivered reliable, high-performing drives at a competitive price with excellent customer service. This latest addition to the Momentus line, the ST9640320AS, delivers very good performance at a very solid price point—$76 at time of publication. We have no qualms recommending this drive for lots of storage in a tiny space.
