Startech.com Triple Display Splitter Review

Resolution choices:

As we stated earlier, you will need to make note of what the maximum resolution of your monitors are.  Also if your matching two or three monitors from different manufactures, the max resolution will be limited by the monitor with the resolution that is the lowest. In other words you can’t expect a monitor that is a 1280X1024 to go any higher than 1280X1024.

Two displays at 1280X1024 resulting in 2560X1024  Three displays at 1280X1024 resulting in 3840X1024

If the monitors we were using supported higher resolution than 1024, we would of been able to get up to 3840×1200 on two monitors. The three displays running at 1280X1024 gave us a grand total of 3840X1024.

StarTech.com Triple Display Splitter

Conclusion:

Our thought on the Triple Display Splitter from StarTech.com are all positive. The consumers who have laptops that have been restrained to two displays for years now have a clear and easy to use solution. The users with NVIDIA cards who want to play on triple displays, here is an option. NOTE: some games may not support the triple display resolution. The price of the splitter is (at time of this review) $264, which is more expensive than a Radeon video card with eyefinity, so it is likely desktop users would simply purchase a replacement video card instead. That being said, the triple display splitter will likely be purchased by DisplayPort Laptop owners who want to ability to quickly connect three monitors.  The Triple Display Splitter from StartTech.com is awarded the TechwareLabs.com’s “Editor’s Choice” award for the ease of use and functionality.
