Installation:
- Core i5 750
- 4 gb Patriot Viper II
- Jetway HI06
- 8800 GT
- Windows 7 Enterprise
- Thermaltake V3 black edition
Mounting this cooler was simple and straightforward. I am upgrading from a stock cooler on this board so it was a labor of love. All of the instructions were clear to understand (if you even need them).
When I was complete with the installation I noticed a precarious potential problem. I have a standard atx board the cooler is very close to infringing on my pci express slot, and with both fans installed it would be impossible to utilize all of my dimms. Granted it may be unnecessary to use both fans and in fact I am operating with a single fan just fine, it is simply worth noting that you may have issues related to your motherboard layout. This problem also results from the fact that our Patriot ram uses extended heatsinks that rise up above the standard form factor for DDR3 and thus cause clearance issues with this heatink. This could well be the scenario with any large heatink on this motherboard combined with extended height ram.
Testing:
With both fans at full there is a substantial temperature drop. I am very happy with these numbers. |
