Testing:
I will be testing this unit with a Samsung Galaxy S5. I am slightly concerned about this unit’s ability to charge the S5 because the factory charger is 2.0 amp and this unit’s max output is 5v/1.5amp. The Samsung Galaxy S5 has a 2800mAh so if everything works correctly I should more than double the battery life. Synthetic battery benchmarks never line up with actual use but they give you a good scale for what you’re working with.
I was planning on testing with AnTuTu Mobile Benchmark suite but I discovered that they won’t benchmark a phone while it is plugged in
so that went out. I had to get a bit more creative to bench this. I downloaded an app called battery drain
this app didn’t seem to care if the unit was plugged in.
Testing without Ventev battery attached:
Settings enabled:
- CPU Load
- Wi-Fi
- Bluetooth
- Screen Brightness
Almost as soon as I unplugged the phone from the charger, I lost three percent battery. So the test began at 97% charge. Within two minutes the phone was already hot so I felt comfortable the drain app was working. I was running a timer on an adjacent device to clock the time of death. It took 2hours 34 minutes for the phone to blink out.

After another full charge of the phone. I started the test at 97% to keep things consistent. Despite the Pre-Charge I gave the Ventec battery a full charge to ensure I gave it the best possible outcome. 12 minutes into the test I was significantly impressed the battery hadn’t even dropped by 1%. 16 minutes into the test I was shocked that despite the load the phone was climbing in charge. It took 5 hours 39 minutes for the phone to finally croak.
Conclusion:
This device is listed on Amazon for $38.70 at the time of this review. The output amps being at 1.5 instead of 1 like some of the other 3000mAh batteries is definitely a plus. I also like the metal constructions and the light weight. Because this unit is more than three times the cost of other 3000mAh batteries with the same features or better, I wouldn’t recommend this battery over another.
