Conclusion
With the Athlon II X2 240e, AMD has delivered a CPU that delivers phenomenal bang for your buck. It is excellent for HTPCs where silence and low heat output are chief concerns. It does well with the tasks you’d ask a HTPC to do, and has enough muscle to play most games, though obviously not Crysis on Ultra or anything like that. Average price online is $60 at time of publication, which puts it on an even cost with Intel ‘s Celeron, which don’t fare nearly as well. If you’re a gamer on a budget, or looking to build a silent PC that won’t fall behind on performance, this CPU is hard to beat.
