Summary & Conclusion

The iStand S3 is not a complicated accessory and provides an impressive range of positions for your easy viewing pleasure. To move your tablet along the vertical support or to rotate its orientation vertically you just need to loosen the screw cap on the back. Be sure to tighten it once again after you have achieved your desired position. The stand is sturdy enough so you can place your tablet, orient it how you like it, tighten the screw cap and then move it around with you without it readily changing position.
You would think that due to the positioning possibilities that this stand would be ideal for not only watching videos at a substantially more comfortable angle, but also be able to type on your tablet with a new level of ease as well. Unfortunately, that is not the case. While the stand positioning does provide you with multiple viewing possibilities the design provides a springy experience as the tablet bounces from the impact of typing or touching the screen in a typing manner. This does not physically impede your typing ability nor does it cause any destabilization to the stand itself, but does become rather irksome in short order. Despite the annoyance with typing, the stand does also allow for a more comfortable tablet gaming experience when they involve swiping motions and light contact.
Overall, this stand is rather handy. While this next feature may not work for everyone, I liked how I could place the stand on my chest when lying on the couch or in bed in order to clearly see the screen to watch episodes on Hulu or HBO Go. In comparison the stand/case combo offered by Apple for the iPad 2 while providing a superior typing experience does not provide as comfortable a viewing experience requiring you to hold the device up manually in those situations.
