OCZ Reaper R2 1600MHz 6GB DDR3 Ram Kit

Test Rig

Overclocking

We were able to overclock the Reaper R2 106MHz higher than the stock settings. We achieved this by raising the BCLK to 142 and changing the memory multiplier to 6. We had to up the voltage to 1.75v. We were able to keep the timings the same at 7-8-8-24. I wouldn’t be surprised if you could get this RAM to 1800MHz if you increased the timings a little bit. The configuration we had ran quite stable.

CPU-Z

This program displays useful information about both the CPU and RAM in real time. Overclockers will often use it while they are calibrating their system.

cpuz_spd

In the SPD tab we can see again that the RAM doesn’t have any X.M.P. entries.

Stock Overclocked

In the images above we can see the frequency and timings of the RAM at both stock settings and when overclocked. A 100MHz overclock is quite good when it comes to RAM. The extra large heatspreaders help keep the RAM cool and stable.
