PowerColor PCS+ R9 290X 8GB Review

Powercolor is one of those unique brands that never fails to impress with their offerings. They give enthusiasts the opportunity to choose between the Powercolor Devil 13 Dual R9 290x, a dual GPU power house released long before anyone else, or the Powercolor LCS R9 290X, a custom watercooling-only top of the line card. It is no surprise that Powercolor was also one of the few to bring out an 8GB version of AMD flagship Hawaii chipset known as the PCS+ R9 290X 8GB edition. The PCS+ R9 290X 8GB edition is currently priced at $430 and competes against's Nvidia's flag ship GTX 980 and GTX 970 on a core perforance level and against Nvidia's Titan, the R9 290X2, and other offerings of the R9 290X 8GB edition.

ASUS X99-A Motherboard Review

Today we are taking a look at the Asus X99-A motherboard from Asus. This motherboard sports the brand new X99 chipset a 2011-3 socket and blazing fast DDR4, quite the upgrade from the aging X79. With the capability of running Intel’s latest Haswell-E or server grade Xeon processors you know you are in for serious business. Unmatched performance at a reasonable price for a motherboard capable of handling top of the line processors seems too good to be true however, this is Asus we are talking about.

Intel Core i7-5960X Haswell-E CPU Review

If you wanted to buy an 8-Core CPU you had to fork over thousands on an Intel Xeon server grade CPU or buy an outclassed AMD processor. In September, Intel unleashed its first ever consumer grade 8-Core CPU with never before seen DDR4 and the long awaited enthusiast chipset, X99. With a jaw dropping 8-Cores, 16 threads, 3.0GHz clock, 20MB of Cache, and 22nm architecture, the 5960X offers some devastating specs on paper. The over the top performance offered by this processor is not for everyone, if you want to buy the “Extreme” version of the Haswell variant you better be in the need for some extreme computing power. 10/10

Thermaltake Core X1 ITX Case Review

The PC industry doesn't suffer from a lack of case manufacturers, however, there are case manufactures and then there are companies blessed to have engineering excellence. Every now and then I am blown away by the depth of insight and excellence of a product. Sometimes it happens often enough with a particular company that I know someone behind the scenes really knows their stuff. To get it right often enough shows real talent, and its important that you as the consumers realize what a big part that should be in your buying decision. Thermaltake is a name I have known for years as I watched the company grow from small heatsinks and peripherals to the PC powerhouse they are today. I am the Editor in Chief at TechwareLabs.com and on my desk today Im pleased to have the new Core X1 ITX case. Take note, your going to hear a lot about this awesome enclosure and the talent it takes to make a case this good.
