Epson WorkForce 840 Inkjet Printer

The WorkForce 840 is Fast!

preferences

Using the default settings a 10 page text only document took 42 seconds and a 2 page document with text, photos and graphics printed in 15 seconds. Duplex printing took longer, but was still very respectable, 90.2 seconds for the 10 page text file and 31.6 seconds for the two page graphics and text file . With multiple users sending  simultaneous jobs to the printer, the device happily churned through 35 pages of mixed output in less than 5 minutes. Epson claims up to 15 ppm in black and white, and 9.3 ppm in color, our results were somewhat less than this, but still very respectable. Your mileage may vary.  Image quality options can be set from the printing preferences dialog. There are only a few basic options so it is very simple. One can choose between draft mode for everything, or text, text plus image and normal and best photo radio buttons. The advance tab contains a pull down option that lets one adjust the quality of the output further. Using the default settings, the scanning and copying times were less impressive than the printing, but the quality was excellent. Epson claims that the WorkForce 840 is the “World’s Fastest All-in-One”, this may not be strictly true, but it IS very respectable.preferences-2
